“Switzerland and New Zealand have an amicable relationship and are like-minded nations. Despite the vast geographical distance, there is much that connects the two countries. Both boast breathtaking mountains, lush sceneries, thriving agriculture and share the same values.
With the artistic project “Light is Hope”, the Swiss mountain village of Zermatt illuminated the Matterhorn for five weeks during the difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic, sending out a sign of hope and solidarity to the world. The lantern is dedicated to the night the flag of Aotearoa was beamed onto the iconic mountain during a star filled night.”
