Spectacular Lantern Display
Check out the life-sized sculptured lanterns which have been custom-built by Chinese artisans - each of which took over a month to complete! This year there are 8 all NEW life-sized lanterns. One of these lanterns, the Hongi Lantern, is an incredible two stories high and symbolizes Wellington's cultural inclusivity.

Children Lantern Exhibition
In 2020 we are taking our Children's Lantern Workshop& competition nationwide. There are over 9,000 primary school students participating, that's 59 schools across 13 regions! 3722 of them will be displayed on the Wellington Waterfront at the Wellington Lantern Festival in February! Voting opens till the 7th of February and everyone that votes go in the draw to win a year's supply of RJ's Licorice
Cultural Entertainment and Performances
Enjoy a rich multicultural experience, with more than 300+ artists and performers showcased over two days. Our program is packed with traditional and contemporary Asian culture routines, Dragon/Lion Dances, Salsa, Tap and Bollywood Dancing, Kapa Haka performances, circus acts and more.
